A collaborative installation with the poet Rowyda Amin
An Accident and Emergence Project
Shoreditch Gallery London
Pistols & Pollinators paired poet & artists together. Previously unknown to each other they had to facilitate a collaboration across two disciplines. For 6 months the pairs shared their techniques, experience and creative processes in order to generate dynamic new work that combined linguistic and visual modes of address. In doing so each pair had to embrace both the possibilities and problems of collaboration and shift the balance of their individual practice.
Franny & Rowyda explored a shared interest in museums, artefacts and archaeology and a fascination for lost cultures and extinct languages.
A cache of objects manufactured from goose bones were offered as a fantastical display purporting to come from an extinct civilization. A poem to a young woman from an imaginary ancient water borne culture became the museum label.
